Hair Transplantation

1- About Hair Transplantation

This surgery removes hair follicles from the donor site where the hair is more transplanted to the recipient site, which is the treatment area.

Through this technique, eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, chest hair, pubic hair, can also be restored. Mainly the healthy hair at the sides and back of the scalp will be served as the donor site. Strip excision harvesting and follicular unit extraction (FUE), are mainly two ways of harvesting donor grafts. Follicular unit transplant (FUT) is a traditional technique which extracts a strip of follicles from the donor site on the back or the side of the scalp.

Recommended for:

  • Patients with thinning areas on the scalp
  • Patients willing to treat a bald spot on the crown
  • patients with receding hairline

2-Before Hair Transplantation:

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or taking multivitamins, vitamin B, or vitamin E supplements for seven days prior to your surgery.
  • Avoid medications such as aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory, seven days before surgery.
  • Wash your hair thoroughly in the morning of the surgery.

3-How is hair transplantation performed?

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

During the FUT method, the surgeon extracts a donor strip from a donor zone using a scalpel. The donor zone is typically an area on the sides and back of the scalp. Once the donor strip is taken, it is split into individual grafts that are often smaller than follicular units. After this, surgeons transplant individual or small groups of follicles to recipient areas in a predetermined pattern. This procedure will leave a thin linear scar in the donor area.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) or Follicular Isolation Technique (FIT):

This is a procedure in which the surgeon extracts Single follicles from the donor site on the scalp. This method involves harvesting a larger number of follicular units than FUT. The surgeon cuts each follicular unit; therefore, the scars are much smaller and less noticeable.

In this surgery, either sedation or local anesthesia is administrated.

How many days after the procedure my hair grows?

Between the third week and the second month, the follicles are detached from the transplanted hair but do not worry because this hair will grow back without falling.

The new hair starts to grow from the 3rd month.

A new regrowth with stronger and longer hair happens from the 6th month.

Does hair transplant have age conditions?

There are no age-specific conditions for hair transplantation, and all people, according to clinical conditions and approved by a specialist physician, can do this in every part of the body from hair resuscitation to beard, mustache and eyebrows. But it’s better to do it than age 23

Will the implanted hair fall out again?

In fact, with the exception of natural hair loss (sown and growing hair), if the hair is already spread, the problem is likely to be internal. In other words, the same factors that cause hair loss and baldness can also cause the hair to fall.
