Diabetic retinopathy treatment is a bunch of procedures to treat Diabetic retinopathy that is a condition which occurs as a result of damage to the blood vessels of the back of the eye (retina) in people diagnosed with diabetes.

Diabetic retinopathy can develop in type 1 or 2 diabetes and a long history of uncontrolled high blood sugar levels. Early disease may not cause symptoms, but it may eventually lead to the loss of the sight. Untreated diabetic is the most common eye disease in people with diabetes.

The two main treatments for diabetic retinopathy are • laser surgery: to stop the edema and hemorrhage • vitrectomy: to remove blood from the back of the eye.

Before Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment
The doctor will take a medical history. And he or she will do some tests to understand the situation better.
During Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment
The surgery will be complete in10 to 15 minutes. Numbing drops are applied to eyes before surgery to make the procedure comfortable and decrease the natural urge to blink. Also, a small device will hold the eyelids open during the procedure so that patients can’t accidentally blink.
After Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment
Most patients can return to their normal activities shortly after treatment. However, some patients may experience temporary side effects like blurred vision and discomfort. But full recovery can take several weeks.
