The patients undergo general anesthesia during the surgery. The surgeon makes incisions behind the knee to create a pocket to place the calf implants. After that, the surgeon places the silicone implant. The incisions are then closed with stitches. This procedure usually takes between 1 to 3 hours.

After Calf Implants

Patients should elevate their legs for the first few days after the surgery. Swelling, bruising and discomfort are common symptoms. The surgeon may prescribe painkillers and antibiotics. Patients should stay in bed for the first two days. They are able to return to work after a week. It is recommended to wear compression stockings at least a week. Heavy activities should be avoided at least 6 weeks after the surgery.
